Cool looking reamke, Great graphics work. The controls are, well, clunky? Simon glides ever time he jumps. I like the use of the salesman sprites from Vampire Killer MSX. Optomon's music is great as always.
Thanks for the kind words. I agree, the controls aren't the best, but I did design the game around it in a way that it would work, so that the dificulty is a challenge but not impossible. Still, thanks for checking it out.
I quite enjoy this game so far, I'll take anything to see the sprite work from thaddeus in action, and I appreciate the work put into this game, but I was wondering if it's possible there's a setting that would alter the controls.
Right now it isn't possible to change the controls, but i believe there are more buttons on the keyboard that work besides the ones mapped, like, i'm mostly sure space also works as an action button. Can't remember the other ones.
And it's cool to see someone else that also knows Thaddeus art. If you get stuck in some dungeon, just take your time, analyze the puzzles and save alot.
The engine, properly saying, it's really just the regular rm2k3 engine, but modified to work as a platformer. He created it and i worked on the finer details, improving here and there, translating most of the code to english, as it was originally in german.
There are no external plugins or any of that, it's all internal code within the game. You can check the files and the code with the regular rm2k3 tool. There are some test maps in there, i believe.
If you want to study how it works and use it to make your game, feel free to do it. Just having credit for the both of us would be appreciated.
No prob, if you can simplify it for anyone to be able to use it. Still, as you may have seen, most of it just works if all of the switchs needed are present on the maps and organized properly.
Hey, checked out this game after playing Elegy of the Curse. From what I gather, this was made with EasyRPG, correct? The story, the NPC interactions, and the graphics are really good. I do think that there are much better engines to make this sort of game, as the controls are quite rough, most notably the jumping. You definitely put a lot of great work into this and I think if it played smoother it would be a top tier Castlevania fangame.
